Historic Photo Contest

Historic Photo Contest

Old Africa is looking for historic photos of East Africa. Do you have a collection of family memories in an old photo album? Do you have some old photographs hidden a way in a trunk? Are termites and silverfish chewing holes in those valuable records of history?  Dig them out. Blow off the dust. Enter your best historic photo of East Africa in the Old Africa photo contest. Each issue we choose a winning photograph, which is featured in the magazine and the winner receives a prize.

Prizes

In Kenya the prize is a free 16 X 20 enlargement of the image of your choice from Spectrum Colour Lab at ABC Place on Waiyaki Way, Nairobi, sponsors of the contest. For outside of Kenya winners, we offer a free year's airmail subscription to Old Africa magazine.

Three ways to enter

1. Bring your photo to Spectrum Colour Lab and tell them you want to enter your photograph in the Old Africa Historic Photo Contest. Leave your contact information so the photograph won't get lost.

2. Mail your photo to Old Africa at P.O. Box 65, Kijabe-00220, Kenya. Have a quality copy made at a photography store and send us the copy to avoid losing originals in the post. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope if you want the photos returned.

3. Email your photo to our offices at editorial@oldafricamagazine.com Scan and attach photos as jpeg files at least 300 dpi resolution.

Identify photos

If possible, name the photographer and year the photograph was taken and information about what the photo illustrates. Spectrum and Old Africa magazine will judge the best photos considering criteria such as balance, lighting, composition, human interest and historical value. Winning photographs are published in Old Africa. Photographs that do not win the historic photo contest may be considered for publication in our Photo Album pages.
